Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 10, 2026
The short version: GoreBoy doesn't ask who you are. If you post to the leaderboard, it knows you by a random ID and your Play Games or Game Center name. The app uses Google AdMob to show optional rewarded ads and Firebase Analytics to see which levels people get stuck on. Both use your device's advertising ID. You can opt out of personalized ads in the app or in your device settings, and buying ad-free turns the ad part off entirely.

1. Introduction
Thin Air Studio, a Brabson Ventures LLC company ("we," "our," or "us"), respects your privacy. This policy explains what information our mobile apps collect, how it's used, and the choices you have. It applies to GoreBoy and any other app we publish (the "App"). Our website, thinair.studio, may use basic analytics to understand visitor traffic. The GoreBoy store at goreboy.com/store has a merch poll: a vote adds one to a count and keeps nothing about you. Your browser remembers what you voted for, and to allow one vote per item a day, our server keeps your IP address in its working memory, never in a database or our logs, for a day at most after your last vote.
By installing or using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here. If you don't agree, please don't use the App.
2. Information we collect
Collected automatically
| Data | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Advertising ID (IDFA on iOS, GAID on Android) | Serving ads, measuring them, and preventing ad fraud. Used for personalized ads only with your consent where required. |
| IP address | Approximate location (city or country level) for ad delivery and fraud prevention. Not stored by us. |
| Device information | Device model, operating system version, language, and screen size, so we can tell which devices the game runs well on. |
| App usage | Levels played, where you lose lives, which features you use, session length, and whether an ad or purchase was offered and accepted. Used in aggregate to improve the game. |
| Anonymous user ID | A random ID the App creates for your install the first time you start an ENDLESS run or open the leaderboard. It carries no name or email. Used to time ENDLESS runs and to tie your leaderboard entry and score submissions together. |
| Approximate location (country) | A country flag for your leaderboard entry, worked out from your phone's language and region settings. The App never asks for or reads your location. |
| Crash and performance data | Diagnostics about crashes, slowdowns, and errors so we can fix them. |
Information you provide
The App doesn't ask for your name, email, or any personal details. If you post to the leaderboard, we receive your display name from Google Play Games or Apple Game Center, which you sign in with to post. The App never asks you to type a name. See section 7. If you contact us for support, we'll have your email address and whatever you choose to tell us, and we use it only to reply.
What we don't collect
We don't collect your precise location, contacts, photos, microphone or camera data, or anything from other apps. The leaderboard flag comes from your phone's language and region settings, not from where you are. Your game progress is stored only on your device.
3. How we use it
- Running the App: providing, maintaining, and improving features and performance.
- Advertising: showing rewarded ads through Google AdMob, personalized or non-personalized depending on your choices.
- Analytics: understanding how people play so we can tune difficulty, fix problems, and decide what to build next.
- Leaderboard: timing ENDLESS runs, showing the scores players choose to post, and keeping a record of submissions so we can spot cheating.
- Support: responding to your messages.
- Legal compliance: meeting our legal obligations and enforcing our Terms of Use.
We don't sell your personal information, and we don't share it with anyone except the service providers listed below.
4. Third-party services
The App uses these services, each of which processes data under its own privacy policy:
- Google AdMob serves the App's ads. It may collect your advertising ID, IP address, and device information to deliver and measure ads. See Google's Privacy Policy and how Google uses data from apps that use its services.
- Firebase Analytics (Google) collects anonymous usage and device data. See Firebase Privacy and Security.
- Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Functions, and App Check (Google) run the leaderboard: the anonymous account, the stored entries, the server that checks scores, and the attestation that the App is genuine. Same Firebase privacy page as above.
- Google Play Games and Apple Game Center are how you sign in to post to the leaderboard. When you do, we receive your display name from that service and nothing else. See Google's Privacy Policy and Apple's Privacy Policy.
- Apple App Store and Google Play handle app distribution and in-app purchases. They collect information about your downloads and purchases under Apple's Privacy Policy and Google's Privacy Policy.
5. Advertising and consent
The App shows rewarded video ads only. They're never forced on you: the App offers an ad in exchange for something in the game, such as a continue or a powerup, and you choose whether to watch. There are no banner ads and no interstitials.
Consent in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland. If you're in one of these regions, the App shows a consent form before any ad is loaded, using Google's certified consent management platform. You can decline personalized ads and still play. You can change your choice at any time from the App's settings.
App Tracking Transparency on iOS. On iOS, the App asks for permission to track before using your advertising ID for personalized ads. If you decline, you still see ads, but they're not personalized.
Ad-free. If you buy the ad-free upgrade, the App stops showing ads and stops loading the ad SDK's ad content. Analytics and crash reporting continue so we can keep the game working.
6. In-app purchases
The App offers an optional one-time ad-free purchase and optional tips. Both are processed entirely by Apple or Google. We receive confirmation that a purchase happened and which product it was, so the App can unlock ad-free and restore it on your other devices. We never see your payment card, billing address, or app store account details. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies.
7. Leaderboard
ENDLESS has a global leaderboard. Nothing is created when you launch the App. The first time you start an ENDLESS run or open the leaderboard, the App creates an anonymous account for your install: a random ID, no name or email. At the start of each ENDLESS run, the App tells our server the run has begun, so a finished run's time can be checked.
Posting. Posting a run is optional. To post, you sign in with Google Play Games on Android or Apple Game Center on iOS, and your display name from that service is shown on your entry. We receive nothing else from that account, and the App never asks you to type a name. Signing in again after a reinstall brings back your entry. Those services handle the sign-in under Google's Privacy Policy and Apple's Privacy Policy.
When you post, the App sends your wave, score, difficulty, whether you're on Android or iOS, and the app version. Your entry also shows a flag picked from your phone's language and region settings when you first sign in. We never read your location. You can change the flag, or remove it, by tapping your own row.
Keeping it honest. We keep a log of score submissions (your random ID, difficulty, wave, score, when it was sent, app version, and whether we accepted it) to catch cheating. The App also uses Firebase App Check, which relies on Google Play Integrity on Android and Apple App Attest on iOS to confirm the App is genuine. The device signals for that are handled by Google and Apple under their own policies; we never see them.
Leaderboard data is stored in Google Firebase in the United States. Anything you post is public, in the App and at goreboy.com, under your Play Games or Game Center name. To have your entry or your account removed, email support@goreboy.com.
8. Children's privacy
The App is rated 13+ and is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you're a parent or guardian and believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at info@thinair.studio and we'll delete it.
9. Your choices
Opt out of personalized ads
- In the App: in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland, open Settings and choose the privacy option to change your consent.
- iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking, turn off "Allow Apps to Request to Track," or revoke permission for the App there. Also Settings → Privacy & Security → Apple Advertising → turn off Personalized Ads.
- Android: Settings → Google → Ads (or Settings → Privacy → Ads) → "Delete advertising ID" or "Opt out of Ads Personalization."
Reset your advertising ID
Both platforms let you reset your advertising identifier from the same settings screens. A reset disconnects future activity from the old identifier.
Remove ads entirely
Buy the ad-free upgrade in the App.
Remove your leaderboard entry
Email support@goreboy.com and we'll remove your entry, or the whole anonymous account, usually within a few days.
Delete your data
Uninstalling the App removes all game data from your device. It doesn't remove a leaderboard entry you posted; ask us for that. To ask us to delete anything else we hold, such as support emails, contact us at the address below.
10. Data retention
- Analytics data: retained by Firebase in aggregated or anonymized form for up to 14 months.
- Crash reports: retained for 90 days.
- Leaderboard entries and the anonymous account: kept until you ask us to remove them.
- Score submission logs: kept for up to 12 months.
- Support emails: retained for up to 2 years after the issue is resolved.
Third-party services keep data under their own retention policies, linked above.
11. Data security
We rely on the security practices of the platforms and services we use, and we keep the amount of data the App collects to the minimum needed to run and improve it. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.
12. International users
We're based in Colorado, United States. If you use the App from elsewhere, your information is processed in the United States and in whatever countries our service providers operate, which may have different data protection laws than yours. Where required, transfers rely on standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards maintained by those providers.
13. Your rights in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland
If you're in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal data, to receive it in a portable format, to object to processing based on legitimate interests, and to withdraw consent at any time. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Our legal bases are: your consent for personalized advertising; our legitimate interests in running, securing, and improving the App for analytics and non-personalized ads; and performance of a contract for delivering the App, your purchases, and the leaderboard entries you choose to post.
To exercise these rights, email info@thinair.studio. We respond within 30 days.
14. Your rights in California and other US states
If you live in California or another US state with a comprehensive privacy law, you have the right to know what personal information we collect and how it's used, to request its deletion, to opt out of its sale or sharing, and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights.
We don't sell personal information. Sharing your advertising ID with Google for personalized ads may count as "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising under California law. You can opt out using the choices in section 9. In the preceding 12 months we've collected the categories of information described in section 2.
To exercise these rights, email info@thinair.studio. We may ask you to confirm the request from the same device or email address.
15. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We'll post the new version here and update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll also note it in the App. Continuing to use the App after a change means you accept the updated policy.
